TERMS AND CONDITIONS
a.
Cancellation Charges: Due to the small numbers we maintain on our rides we have a policy of
requiring 48hrs notice of cancellation for weekend rides and 24hrs for mid week rides, otherwise there is a
cancellation fee for the ride .
1. Pony/horse
riding and care includes unavoidable risk to the participant. Whereas all reasonably practicable precautions
have been taken to try and ensure your safety, animals such as ponies and
horses are inherently unpredictable and may act in unexpected ways. It is likely that if you continue to ride
you will fall off at some point with a possible resultant injury. CRS will not accept any liability unless
proven to be negligent. The rider is also more likely to fall from a horse and
receive an injury if their Body Mass Index (BMI) exceeds 30. Please ask for
advice if you believe this may affect you. You ride, or allow your child to
ride under this proviso:
There
will always be some significant risk to the rider/carer.
2. Hacking
out on the roads and bridleways, beach rides, show jumping and cross-country
riding are inherently more risky than lessons in the arena. Rides may be taken out on hacks either due to
unforeseen circumstances (eg weather) or other
reasons. You ride, or allow your child
to ride, under this proviso:
There is
an increased risk to the rider while; hacking out, on beach rides, during show
jumping and cross-country riding.
3. All riders will
be required to wear approved riding hats (PAS 015/BS EN 1384) at all times when
riding or leading ponies. If you bring
your own hat this may be checked by CRS staff and if found not to be suitable
you will not be permitted to use it at CRS.
CRS will not accept responsibility for harm caused by rider’s own
hats. Additional protective wear may be
provided by the pupil or hired from CRS if the rider considers it necessary, eg. Body protector, riding boots and
gloves.
CRS
strongly recommends the wearing of these items.
4.
It is important that pupils act
under the instructions of the instructor or helper at all times. Failure to act on such instructions could be
dangerous.
5.
Smoking and naked lights are not
allowed anywhere on the premises or grounds or while away on hacks. The stable area and grounds contain flammable
materials such as hay, straw and fuel.
Smoking while leading or riding a pony is dangerous as well as bad
practice.
6.
CRS reserves the right to refuse
to place any person on a pony or horse if it is considered that they are in any
way unsuitable.
7.
Pupils and other personnel should
avoid making loud or sudden noises around the ponies as this may startle them.
8.
Dogs, if brought, must be kept
inside vehicles to avoid frightening the horses. The dogs on the premises are well known to
the horses and are used to them.
